Sailing on the 2011 HIV Cruise Retreat
It was my distinct privilege to serve as host and M.C. for a second time on The HIV Cruise Retreat, the labor of love by openly HIV positive travel agent Paul Stalbaum of Cruise Designs Travel. Paul has become the go-to man for gay travel groups – in addition to the HIV cruise he organizes a gay cruise and even a gay bear cruise – and he says without question that the HIV cruise is nearest and dearest to him.Read More
DON'T BE A CASUALTY OF THE UNCAPPED ADSL
|
They all come in different names, Wireless, Uncapped, and Untapped but do these internet providers really meet our expectation?
Personally I believe 80% of these scrupulous providers should be banned from ripping off unsuspecting individuals. Just like a thief who's ahead of the cop this guys are way ahead on marketing strategies and yes we fall for them 200% often.
Let’s talk about uncapped wireless Adsl...
Did you know apart from this devices being throttled for profit purposes the weather accounts to 70% of their shortfalls? And to add insult to injury there is the hidden cost attached to it...An example every single time you have to relocate you have to pay for the movement and a connection fee? Mmmm they never will tell you this neither will they inform you prior to the move, surprisingly this rogue and rude providers will do anything to make a nickel out of you...
Fortunately the tide is turning with providers like 8ta and Vodacom competing on data dominance the internet has become so cheap that unless you don’t heed to my advice you'll get duped. READ MORE
DECEMBER 2011! GET INVOLVED
![]() |
We all want to change the world, even in the smallest way possible, but we just shake our heads in dismay when we see children begging on the streets, teenagers having to look after their younger siblings, and domestic workers and their families dying of dreaded diseases every day. We wait for the world to change, but we do not know, we are the catalysts of change. If we stand up, support and work together, the stigma and numbers of those infected by HIV/AIDS will fly out the broken window through which many countries are viewed.
Most of us know that South Africa has an enormously big HIV infection rate and efforts to decrease the rate of new infections have promised little results, but in reality HIV touches the entire world. Many of the people infected contracted the disease unknowingly or through rape, or some other form of physical abuse. Helpless babies get the disease from their infected mothers – this is the sad reality. We need to do more. We need to stop passing on responsibility to others, we need to start acting responsibly. Messages and warnings of unprotected sex pass through our brains like water passes through our uncapped hands. The reality is not pregnancy – although this is also becoming an increasingly alarming factor concerning our youth – but disease. Disease that we pass on from partner, to partner, to partner and it is slowly killing our beautiful people.
December 2011 Join us on marking WORLD AIDS day...Like us on Face Book and stay updated... THE HIV FREE GENERATION CAMPAIGN
We care for children at risk and children living and working on the streets by providing accommodation, education and care at our youth centre, Siyakatala. Some children in our care cannot be placed in public schools and are educated by doing home teaching at the centre.
We offer services to social workers of children from towns surrounding Port Elizabeth who do not have youth centres in their towns.
We also accommodate destitute adults who can be of service to the organisation. Here they can recover and get new meaning for their lives.

I’ve been hurt, I have cried not ones but plenty of times, I have regretted my being and I have lost more than 300 friends, people I love my two partners died of HIV but never will I let HIV or cancer dictate my life

| The Man with a Golden Heart Craig Sieben |
The life expectancy of a disabled person in certain parts of Africa is 18 years old. On 17 September 2011 Craig Sieben, as a Chaeli Campaign representative, will be embarking on a goodwill journey from Cape Town, South Africa to Port Said, Egypt, crossing 15 countries over a period of 222 days and spanning approximately 16 000km. Craig will be driving an awareness campaign around the abilities of people with disabilities in each country, through the provision of educational material, the telling of stories of hope and the holding of workshops. We also plan to identify a disabled child in each country, provide them with an appropriate assistive device and educate the family and community around the abilities of that child. Supported by the Chaeli Campaign, Craig aims to leave a footprint of hope and awareness of ability wherever he goes on his journey.
The countries included in this journey are South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, Malawi, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Sudan and Egypt.

The little Angels
Once again, the Pozteam ventured out to meet extraordinary people doing remarkable work for those less fortunate and in dire need of a helping hand. This time, we travelled to Tokai to meet with Phillip and Pat van Rensburg, founders and the workforce behind Little Angels, a place of safety and emergency foster home.
Sitting in their office, the walls are covered with photos of the little ones they temporarily called their own at one stage. With little snippets into the stories of each one’s history, how they came to be taken in by Little Angels and the remarkable recovery they have made from being found abandoned in a rubbish bag, under a cold bridge or a drain pipe.
