While the event itself promises to be fun-filled, it is important to remember the reason for the Avon Justine iThemba Walkathons. As such breast cancer survivors, dressed in pink Avon sashes will lead the event. Gerry Elsdon, Avon celebrity spokesperson and iThemba ambassador as well as other celebrities will keep walkers company. Other activities on the day include prizes for the best pink walking gear, a Kiddies Corner, Toddler Trot, food and display stalls.

Tickets can be bought at only R65 each while tickets for children under the age of 12 are R45. There is no cost for children under the age of 2. All walkers who register early will receive a goodie bag with Avon Justine products and the event t-shirt. The goodie bags are be collected before the day of the event. There will also be fantastic spot prizes on the day.

Walkers have the option of participating in the 8km walk (10km in Cape Town) which begins at 08h00 or the 5km walk which follows at 08h30. Group entries and corporate packages are also available.

All walkers must pre-register participants and those who do so by Wednesday, 5 October 2011 for the Johannesburg Walkathon will be allocated goodie bags. For the Cape Town Walkathon those who enter by Wednesday, 12 October 2011, will qualify for goodie bags.
