Celebrities with Genital Herpes

It is a common misconception for people to think that celebrities and ‘famous personalities’ are immune to the perils of life like the rest of society, that somehow they can’t become infected with genital herpes for example, just because their names have been published in a magazine or tabloid more than 20 times. Although it’s nice to believe our idols are STD free, others might rejoice to hear that there are a select few that haven’t escaped from the things that make them average Joe’s and Jane’s.

Any sexually active person is capable of contracting and spreading an STD. This is actually one of the scary things about genital herpes and other STDs - anyone can become infected. Unfortunately for the world’s celebrities, their private lives have become public affair, and so the world gets a small glimpse of how celebrities can and do have genital herpes.

Take the case of Liza Minnelli and ex-husband David Gest. After a long divorce battle, things eventually heated up to such a point that Gest publicly announced that Minnelli had infected him with genital herpes during their marriage.

Hilarious comedian and actor Robin Williams was accused by a resentful ex-girlfriend in 1986 when she sued him $6.2 million for allegedly infecting her with genital herpes.

David Hasselhoff otherwise known as ‘The Hoff’ was also at the firing end of a herpes law suit after ex-wife Pamela Bach publicly announced his status and the fact that he’d been infected since the year 1989 and right through their marriage.

At the top of the list is Paris Hilton, who is rumoured to also have genital herpes and not gloriously immune to all STDs. The heiress apparently had some personal items stowed away in a personal storage unit and after neglecting to pay for her storage use, the contents were emptied out. Amongst the items found was Valtrex, a treatment for herpes which is only obtainable through prescription.

Apart from this, there was also talk in the media across the world after Paris' friend allegedly told the socialite's then boyfriend, Stavros Niarchos, that Paris had a sexually transmitted disease, of which he claimed she had already informed him.

Perhaps if the celebrity has the courage to inform her partners about her genital herpes, now is the time to stop flashing the paparazzi and innocent by-standers, heaven forbid that the rumour should be clarified that way.
